Introduction To Facebook Marketing
I was emailed a question about Facebook marketing and while I am still pretty much on the learning track and experimenting side of things myself with it, I had this great Introduction To Facebook Marketing post bookmarked from earlier this year by Tim Soulo. Soulo gives a step-by-step Social Media Marketing strategy for promoting a business on Facebook. He has gathered, in his opinion, all the best practices and tips that he has used himself along with some advice he has gotten from others and is confident will work. Facebook and Twitter are heavily integrated into the social web world. Facebook even moreso than Twitter from my own views. I am willing to bet if you randomly polled 10 people, more would admit to using Facebook than the would Twitter. I myself will be diving even heavier into Facebook in 2011 and if you are new to it, this is as great as any place to start the learning process.

Twitter & Facebook Influence SEO According To Google & Bing
I am way behind today, but wanted to point you quickly to this post by Rand Fishkin in which he covers that both Bing and Google have confirmed via Danny Sullivan) that indeed, links shared through Twitter and Facebook do in fact have a direct impact on rankings. As you know I have been a big fan of using Twitter, Facebook and other social networks for some time now and I suggest you make it a point to include them more going forward into 2011 once this holiday season is completed. Good stuff in that post.

Video Marketing At SES London 2009 & Facebook Jumps To #2
I have talked a ton about video over the last year and recently Greg Jarboe of SEO-PR discussed YouTube and Video Marketing at SES London 2009 in a video interview below. There is also a post up on Search Engine Watch that covers the comScore Video Metrix of US video sites where not so surprisingly, Facebook.com has jumped one position to capture the #2 spot with 58.6 million viewers of video in the US.

Tracking Facebook Likes With Google Analytics
If you use some of the Facebook addons on your site that I have talked about previously and you also use Google Analytics, I have come across a tutorial on how you can track Facebook Likes with GA. This type of analytics I would suggest only on higher volume sites that you know will have traffic and know will get an occasional like. It is not a perfect fit for every site, but I am in the process of implementing it on a small handful of my heavier traffic sites that I blog on quite frequently. It is actually a pretty easy process and just one more way to track traffic and actions. Kudos to David Booth for the short and easy to understand tutorial.

People are very use to sharing what they deem useful and are not shy about using Facebook or Twitter to do so. The Simple Facebook Connect Wordpress plugin by Otto is a series of plugins that let you add any sort of Facebook Connect functionality you like to a WordPress blog. Make sure to read the directions thoroughly as well as getting your Facebook code. So much you do with this to foster some sharing on the social networks. Another Reason To Use Twitter & Facebook
I will let this article speak for itself, but here is just another reason you should be using social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. You can see a running example right now for Heisman Trophy. Notice the scroll box half way down the results front page. I am a huge fan of Twitter and Facebook and the two have helped tremendously over the year. If you have not attacked these two, you better get on it. It's not too late.

Businesses On Facebook
Facebook is a social network platform that continues to be un-tapped by most niche site builders such as ourselves. While I do have a few sites hooked up with Facebook that I utilize, I do not use it as much as I should. The funny thing is, I see results from the little effort I put forth on it. I just need to do more of it. I am currently revamping some sites right now that have been long overdue, but as soon as that list is put to bed, I will be full steam ahead on some Facebook work.
My wife is a huge TV and internet shopper, a byproduct of that is that there is no shortage of catalogs that arrive in my mailbox everyday. One caught my eye this afternoon after checking the mail. It was from the Dressbarn. Emblazoned on the cover was a small Facebook logo with the URL to their page along with their main website URL. I decided to check out their Facebook page to see how they were utilizing it. Below i have links to a few high profile businesses including Dressbarn, so you can see how these companies are utilizing an under utilized platform.
