None of this is earth shattering and you will of course recognize that he mentions Twitter, which I have had great success with in certain niches. He gives great tips on how to reach out to other webmasters and online marketers for backlinks. Plain basic stuff, but broken down for you to easily understand.

Alex Goad To Launch The RankBuilder Tuesday

Hope everyone is having a great Labor Day today. On Tuesday, Alex Goad is launching a new software app called The Rank Builder that makes attaining some syndicated backlinks very easy. You have heard talk about syndication in the past and it remains very powerful way of not only getting your content out there, but obtaining some backlinks in the process. I will likely be in line to check this app out myself on Tuesday and you can opt in to see the Free SEO Case Study video, see the database listings of the 812 sources he talks about and read up on his rankings formula to see if indeed this is an app you can use. Mix In Some Stupid Natural Comment Anchor Text

We all blog comment for backlinks. It is not my specialty that I do day in and day out, but it is mindless work. The hardest part is getting them approved on some sites that require approval. Most website owners only require you have a decent comment. Too many times we aim for the perfect anchor text and it stinks of comment spam. Try to mix in your first name and a believable last name that may be related to the niche. If I were backlinking to my speaker site, I might try "Dave Bose" and link to an internal page that features or list Bose speakers. It looks a ton better than "Bose Speakers" and gives a more natural looking backlink in the process. For so long we have been taught to get that perfect anchor text, but Google knows it does not happen this way all the time, especially for newer unbranded sites. Let's face it, if I were going to link to McDonalds, I am going to use McDonalds as the anchor text, but that is a brand and Google expects it based on its authority. Building backlinks does not have to be perfect, just make sure you are attempting to build some both natural and unnatural in looks. Get good at getting comments approved on high quality, related sites first and then push the envelope as far as getting a better anchor text. these add up over time and they all do not have to have "Speaker Reviews" as the anchor text. Some sites might have a policy of auto approving comments from users that already have an approved comment in the system, so you might try commenting using the "Dave Bose" idea with no website mention and come back and comment again a few days later, this time using the same name, but now using a URL. Get the picture?

Link Buying Basics & Other Link Building Basics

I read Webmaster Magazine monthly and this month two good articles on link buying and link building surfaced in the latest issue. I buy links on occasion, but mostly build my own links slowly through article marketing and social networks and such. I can indeed vouch for Text Link Ads, but must caution as the article states, to move slow. It is unnatural to have a slew of great links show up over night. Even if you were to have something go viral naturally, Google knows the channels it will show up in, including social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. The slower you build this paid links, the less likely they will be sniffed out. Natural is a word you hear me preach a ton, especially concerning Google. You can climb a site to page 1 of Google pretty easily with the right keyword research and the right game plan of building links over a slow pace. The site stands a better shot of sticking once it arrives as well, if indeed it has quality content and or reviews. Read these articles thoroughly and do not overdue any of it. Remember, nice and slow and natural.

Authority Codes & Perpetual Traffic Reports - Free

Happy Saturday. I came across a few reports from Ryan Deiss today that you may or may not learn a few things from. The Authority Codes report shows you basically how to use Google and the Firefox SEO Quake Plugin to find great sites to leave comments on. The Perpetual Traffic report is an unique read, especial on his Google history and his ranking triad. He also is giving away a free "Cherry Picker” software, but it really is just for surface research and definitely not in depth as Micro Niche Finder or Market Samurai for those serious about keyword and niche research. All in all the reports are an up-sell to his Perpetual Traffic Formula program he is releasing on July 28th at 2pm EST. I found the search terms in the Authority Codes report the most useful out of all this overall and will leave it up to you as to what you find most useful.

Tynt Link Attribution Script Tool

I ran across this post on Search Engine Journal in which Jurgen Estanislao gives the ends and outs of the free Tynt Link Attribution Tool. I am putting it to use on a site starting next week that I know gets a ton of both scrapers and individual copy and pasters on it. I am more curious how responds to the scrapers, because as Jurgen covers in the article, anyone can just remove the link that copy and paste if indeed that is their intent. Some times surfers will just copy and paste articles, stories or reviews straight into forums not knowing how to attribute with a link. This will help solve that for those that just do not know better or are not up on etiquette. The only other drawback is no anchor text, but it does give a natural looking back link and it is not likely to happen so often that it dominates your backlink profile. It is easy to install just like pasting a script in your blog template or footer.

Happy Saturday to all. I am working on getting another VPS server up ang going and to my liking today along with cleaning up some stuff on my other servers as well. While on Twitter this morning, I came across a post from by the end of June by Aaron Wall on his interpretation of how Google Works. You will see he has made it easy for us bloggers to add the graphic to our post as well, with a great backlink to his new PPC blog. This post of his is not only informative, but it makes for great link bait with a title of How Google works and it will assuredly do it's job in attaining backlinks as well. So there is more than one thing to learn from his entire post, not only how Google works. Wall is a master of this. Of course click the graphic for a larger version.

Finding Related Blogs To Comment On

I do not do a ton of blog commenting, but when I do, I usually try to do 10-20 and leave good comments and try to get a backlink in the process. To find blogs to comment on, I use the free SEO for Firefox plugin and set it to instantly show the number of Yahoo links. I do a search in Google for my keyword I am looking for and then select blogs on the left hand column of Google. I then click the 100 tab just under Google search box and wait for all the numbers to be returned. after that I click the CSV and export the result into Excel. From there I can sort by backlinks number and can start browsing and commenting from there. Not all of your comments will stick mind you and not all will be dofollow. It is just a lazy exercise for building a more diverse backlink profile. I try to dedicate a couple of days or so a month to this process. Occasionally you will strike a powerful backlink in the process and the blog owner might even give you a link in their blogroll as well. It is rare, but it does happen. It is a mindless, yet boring process, but another way as well for you to find ideas for content that others might link to or some new keyword ideas as well. Keep your eyes wide open while commenting.

SEO Link Vine Back Open For Limited Time

Brad Callen has opened back up the doors to SEO Link Vine for an unspecified time once again. It had been closed to new members for a few weeks as he reached his maximum capacity for opening. It is unclear how long he will keep the doors back open, but I suggest you only sign up if you are serious about using the service. I luckily got in at the introductory site of $47.00, the rate is now $67.00, so you can see why I suggest this for those that are serious about using the service and know how to spin and submit several articles a month. If you are new to all this, you do not need this yet, but wanted everyone else who missed the opening to get a chance at getting in. Especially for deep internal pages on sites I am promoting hard and heavy for long tail results.

Link Wheel In Action

A reader emailed me recently in regards to a Link Wheel. A link wheel is often better explained when seen in action. If you start here. You can follow the links and get a better idea of how a link wheel works. You can get as creative as you want with the hub and spokes or get as basic as the one you are about to follow. I would try to make each spoke be as unique as possible. This is easily done with the Best Spinner or a simple rewrite. 250-300 words is perfect. Article Ranks Review & Coupon Code Number

OK, so I had a reader send me a link to Article Ranks and wanted my opinion of it. It was the first I had heard of it, but on the surface it checked out pretty good. I went ahead and dove in to give it a $10.00 try.

What is it? Article Ranks is an up-scaled version of Free Traffic System, I have used and promoted in the past on this blog. While FTS is still mildly effective to use even in the free version, you probably noticed that some of the quality of blogs are not up to snuff. I still stand by the motto though that there is no such thing as a bad backlink. Some of course are better than others and carry more weight though. Back to Article Ranks! They do a great job of screening out the blogs and sites that they allow to publish the articles. This makes for a much better network to distribute your articles to.

Article Ranks interface is top notch, but a little rough to understand at first. I do suggest watching the videos and reading everything first a few times. Also clunky is the spin format. I do not like the time involved and the method they have to rewrite and spin the sentences, but if you understand the format, you can use the free Crewriter or The Best Spinner and adapt the output VERY easily. It took me a few minutes to figure out, but I was able to take an article I did in the Best Spinner and export it out using the export function into the EXACT format that Article Ranks uses. That format looks like below:

Get the drift. If you never have spun articles or used The Best Spinner, you have no idea what I am talking about and should stop reading now. You do not have to spin mind you, but several site owners will reject and not publish your articles if you do not have SOME level of uniqueness and clarity to them. You can use up to three links in the articles, but I always just use 2 links and rotate around the anchor text used. One link goes to an interior page, while another points to the home page.

Article marketing has never gone away through all of these years and while it should not be your ONLY method of building backlinks, it is still very much one of the must effective ways to do so. If you are going to use this service, I ask you do so responsibly. If you spin, spin as if the article was going to go on one of your own sites. If you choose to offer up a site to the network as well, offer up a decent one, not just and old junked de-indexed site. I doubt it would be accepted any how.

Why Only 10-20 Article Submissions A Day?

A reader asked me in reference to my statement of only making 10-20 spun article submissions a day this morning. I wanted to clarify that I bit. I shouldn't say a day, I should say when I submit. I do have some days that I do string together multiple days of submissions, but they are not the same article and most of the time not the same niche. Using the ArticleBot makes this process much less time consuming. I do not believe in overdoing anything that might set off a flag with Google. Besides, thoroughly spinning an article 20 times at max is enough in my opinion. Those also will drip in over a 2 week period as well most of the time thanks to lazy article directory webmasters. If you had one niche site and submitted one nicely and thoroughly spun article a week to 15 or so article directories with rotated anchor text pointing to both home and interior pages of your site, you can't help but to rise in the rankings. Create a schedule and stick to it and for Gods sake look natural and spin thoroughly if you are using the Best Spinner. Mix in some other types of backlinks along through the week and if you have done your keyword research correctly and properly SEO'ed your site, you will see the results in 90-120 days. The turtle wins this race that moves natural and calculated. Always remember that.

I have heard quite a few good things about ArticleBot, but had yet to purchase it myself until last night. I shelled out the measly $24.95 and put it to the test. One of my biggest wants in an article submitter is having the ability to submit in a spin format. Most that I have seen do not have this ability so I have been without the use of one for a while. It comes with a well laid out user guide of 43 pages and it WILL take you about 30-45 minutes to get the initial hang of things of setting it up, but if you follow the guide, it will make it easier. It can also auto sign up at article directories you are not a member of yet as well. I like to submit one thoroughly spun article to about 10-20 directories every couple of days or so. This really makes the process simple. You can also add your favorite directories to the expansive list already included if you so desire. Link Building 101 Chart

Today in my web travels I came across ProspectMX which is a company that specializes in internet marketing strategies and link building amongst other things. One of the great on site pieces of content they have is a printable link building chart in PDF format with a break down of each section. Nicely laid out and very accurate. Not anything earth shattering by any means, but a great reference point for those new to building backlinks. While I haven't had a chance to read many of the blog post, you can view their blog here. One post that caught my eye was one that included a video on How To Find Keyword Conversion Percentage By Landing Page Using Google Analytics. Lots of great info buried in there.
