Broken Link Checker Wordpress Plugin

Continuing on with the Wordpress plugin nature of post this week, I will close this weeks post with a very simple Broken Link Checker Wordpress plugin. This plugin is free and does exactly as you would think the name implies it does, as it monitors your blog looking for broken links and let you know if any are found. It also will Also run detection for redirected links as well. Once you install the plugin, it will begin parsing your posts and blogroll looking for links. Depending on the size of your site and the number of post, this can take from just a few minutes to several hours so be warned. It is a pretty straight forward plugin and a great one to have in your toolbox. I hope everyone had a productive week as you should be reading this on Friday evening if it post as scheduled.

Turning Pages Off In Build A Niche Stores

If you are in the admin section and click on store or content pages, you have seen the ability to turn pages off or on. By default they are all on, but you might wonder what instances you would want them off. Perhaps you do not want a page to show up in the navigation tree for one. Lots of BANS stores prefer to list their Sitemap and Privacy Policy Pages in the footer. You can achieve this by turning off those pages and manually adding them into the footer section of the template as these pages are not so important to the surfer. The only bad thing about turning off pages is that they will not show in your xml sitemap and will not be picked up by the search engines unless you have a link on your site pointing to that page or a link from another site pointing to that page.

Another instance where you might use this is if you have a thank you page that only gets seen after a contact form is filled out and the submit button is pushed. Once again this page would never be seen by the search engines or even need to be seen. You also might create your own 404 error page that need not be indexed as well.

Make sure when creating any content or store page, you decide right then if you are going to want the SERPS to see it, because if it is left on it will be in the sitemap and COULD be indexed at any time.

Add a blog to your niche store

Wordpress is very search engine friendly for blogging and I highly suggest everyone add a blog on site. It is real easy to set up and Hostgator customers have an easy install function right inside their cPanel. Makes installing a breeze. It will take some time, but posting 2 or 3 times a week if even a paragraph, will keep the spiders happy and you will be adding unique content to your Build A Niche Store site as well.

Press releases for your niche store

So you have just finished that new store and have submitted to link directories and acquired a few other backlinks, now what? I like to put out a press release on my new stores. There are tons of free places out there to submit a press release. I have been using PRLog as of late. It gets spidered and you never know what kind of traffic it might bring and who might pick it up. This is also a good way to get your site crawled and indexed by Google if nothing else. It is very easy to do. I make sure to make the press release at least 300 words and keyword generated. Here is a great tutorial on how to write a press release.

My Million Dollar Wiki Page

Well i went out and bought a page on Million Dollar Wiki. It was only 100.00 bucks and I probably missed the buzz on it, but I think it could at the very least pay for itself within a year. It is a powerful keyword phrase so you never know. The page is Online Auctions. If it looks like zero traffic is going through it, I will use it to get my BANS stores spydered quickly. Lots of good keywords are left so if you have the means I would surely look into buying one.
