For God's Sake, Give Them A Chance To Buy

So often we are caught up with ranking, we forget what are goal is. That goal of course is converting the surfer or at least giving the surfer an opportunity to buy. The new buzz word is, "call to action". Well, that is not really new, it is just what is being harped on right now. The "call to action" phrase as been around in marketing forever. One of the best features of the ReviewAzon Wordpress plugin is that big, green order now button. It screams, call to action.

If you lead the surfer from the search engines to what he or she is looking for and have the right call to action, you will see your conversions improve. We tend to focus too much on what Google wants sometimes that we forget that there is a surfer that is looking to buy something. Remember this as you head off into the weekend.

... and for God's sake, do not push this big blue button below:

Removing The Website URL Field In Wordpress Comments

A reader asked me how to go about removing the website URL field from Wordpress. I am starting to go about doing this myself on most of my sites as well. Why? I do not want to encourage ANY comment spamming any more. Sure, I have the SPAM plugins that block most of it, but to me comments are overrated. I do not mind people posting positive product reviews and experiences and such, but do these people really own websites? Um, no. If they want to ask questions and leave comments relative to what a customer would ask, fine. I do a little blog commenting for my sites here and there, but it has never been on any large scale. I do not even promote commenting that much on this own blog either. Why? Most of it is people looking for links and their comments are terrible. If they have a true comment or question, then fine, but I really do not care to link to your pool cue site. Nor do I care to link to your Make Money Online blog. I want to link to what I deem worthy as after all, I am who I link to. I have strictly moderated comments here from day one and get tougher every day. I am seen around on enough boards that people contact me through the boards, contact form here or email.

Any way... look in the comments.php file of whatever Wordpress theme you are using and look for something like this beliow and remove and save.

<p><input type="text" name="url" id="url" value="<?php echo $comment_author_url; ?>" size="22" tabindex="3" />
<label for="url"><small>Website</small></label></p>

A Free Backlink For You

I wanted to give everyone a free gift today. It is a free backlink. If you have a Twitter account, you can get a free backlink at twtBizCard. Ok, not earth shattering by any means, but it is a dofollow link right now and it should be index-able as well. As of this post, my link here is not cached, but by linking to it right now, it should help get it indexed. There are tons of these little social sites all over the place and as I have mentioned in the past, I never met a backlink I didn't like. I do not care if it is dofollow or nofollow. Best of all it is free and another doorway into my site. Your welcome. Also make sure to follow me on Twitter as well.

SEO Link Vine Now Open - Hurry, Review Inside

Ok, it is rare I do 2 post a day, especially 2 post promoting products, but I did not want anyone to miss this or have the doors close on them. Surely you have heard of Brad Callen before, if not just Google him. He makes some of the best products and tools out there. Plain and simple.

Surely you have heard of blog/article networks like Free Traffic System and more recently Article Ranks. Both are spectacular. Surely you have heard of the Best Spinner, a tool for spinning articles. If not, close this post now as you will not understand the rest of it.

For those that have read on, the newest creation by Callen is SEO Link Vine it also goes by the name SEO Linkvine as well as SeoLinkVine. Trust me, it is all the same. This is the latest of blog networks that Callen has put together, even better though is that this panel has a built in spinner and a ranking tracking feature. Everything all in one place.

Why the hurry? I can tell you from experience that I have had these doors close on me before I can get in. I can point to Syndicate Kahuna as an example. These systems only let in so many people into the network as not to dilute it or devalue it. I was kicking myself for missing Syndicate Kahuna and have been tracking the SEO Link Vine launch for quite a while.

If you do not see the value of $47.00 a month here, do not register. This is not for people to try. It is for us that are serious in this business that are doers and want to succeed and know and understand the benefits of this. I am not going to sell any of you on any of this. You know my track record of not promoting just anything. If I believe in it, I promote it. If you just can't afford $47.00 a month, but see the benefits, get started with Article Ranks with a budget you can afford.

Below are some videos to better help you see how it works:

Google Product Reviews Program & Bazaarvoice

Ok, this will be hard for me to put into words so I am going to point you to the post on Google Merchant Blog as well as this post on Webmaster Magazine. Even though most of us sell through affiliate links, we really can learn from what Google is rewarding in the way of product reviews. Bazaar Voice will play a huge role in this as well. I would read up on a ton of this as I am right now. I still have not fully absorbed it all yet, but the model will certainly be something to learn from. The web becomes more competitive everyday. People are learning to better search and shop the web everyday. We must give them what they are looking for if we want them to buy the products we are trying to sell them.

You Can't Rank For It If It Ain't On Your Site

One of the things I have learned over the years is that I can't rank for words that are not on my site. What? Did I just say that? Yes a very duh statement, but so true. We get so tied up trying to rank for the term "Cheap Ipod Reviews" that we forget other term that associated with Ipod. Colors, features, model numbers, batteries, chargers, how to hack them, etc., etc. Instead each pages content is generic except for the keyword phrase we are targeting. This makes the page so narrow in focus that it gives you no shot at ranking organically for other phrases that you are not fully targeting. Make your content include specific terms, model #s, or words specific to the item you are selling and you will open yourself up to broader organic searches. I recently purchased some articles from a new writer and while they were written good grammatically, they were generic. Watch out for this if you are having content written for you. If you are having an article written around the phrase "Cheap Ipod Reviews", make sure the writer knows to mix in some some words related to Ipods or whatever it is you are targeting as the seed word. Understand? Is your article just your keyword phrase with 400 other generic, non industry specific words? Does the article stand a chance at ranking for any thing else organically? You should know very quickly.

Michelle MacPhearson Blueprint Video

The latest video from Michelle MacPhearson is straight forward. Her blueprint is very similar to what I do myself. She is blessed with the ability to teach and her videos are fantastic. I won't spill the beans of her process, but you will have to opt in to watch here series of videos. Also she will send you a link for a great FREE Rank Decoding Engine software she had built as well. you do not have to buy a thing to get it. I swear. She has a video that explains this for you as well. Nothing earth shattering, but as you will see from the video, Michelle is a great teacher. Her Crowd Mountain and 3o Minute Backlinks programs are top notch.

Blog Link & Traffic Analysis & Popularity Contest Wordpress Plugins

I am on a roll writing content today and have pocketed 20 reviews/articles thus far. I didn't want to interrupt my strong momentum flow going right now, so I will make this short and sweet and defer you to a post by Ann Smarty on Search Engine Journal. Ann takes a closer look at 2 plugins you may not be aware of. The 1st is the Blog Link & Traffic Analysis Plugin, that was even new to me. I think I came across an earlier version of it, but just put it on the busiest site of mine to give it a work out. The 2nd I have used for a while and it is the Popularity Contest Plugin for Wordpress. Don't install these just to install these. Have a purpose for them and use them. You do not HAVE to have them, they are tools, but damn good ones.

OK, back to content writing, I am obn track to write about 40 pieces today. Some days it just flows easy. Today is one of those days. Go write some of your own today. Do it.

Lots Of Diamonds Hidden In Amazon Best Sellers

Every read Acres of Diamonds by Russell Conwell? It is one of my favorite literary works. Go read it, I will wait.

You read it? Did you get it? Amazon has diamonds buried in it as well. Simply start in the Best Sellers section of any category. Why wouldn't you want to sell best sellers? Any how I by digging through there today, I found 10 products/model numbers that I researched with the new Micro Niche Finder 5.0 and found low traffic, low competition, low measure of backlinks and high search amounts in Google. Took me about 45 minutes. These products are in niches that i have already developed as well. Wednesday I will create the pages and they should rank instantaneously. Stop looking for secrets when the treasure is right below your feet. You just have to use the effort and right tools to dig. Go get those Acres of Diamonds.

Obsess With The Ranking Process

One of the biggest factors that led to my success in affiliate marketing was my obsession with learning how the ranking process worked and more importantly with getting my sites ranked. Now there are so many factors involved in the Google ranking algorithm, that it is easiest to stick with the basics and foundations first and foremost. There are certain things we all know to be true and will not hurt you. You should obsess with these basic things below.

1. Properly formatted meta tags that are targeted around a keyword phrase or phrases you are targeting and they out to match what the surfer will find on page or on site if indeed it is the home page. This is common sense SEO. Nothing new here. Good title and description tags can give you an edge. It is not make or break, but always helps.

2. Content of at least 200-300 original words per page if possible. If product description, make it as factual as possible without 100% plagiarizing. Only so many ways to say something is green and weighs 16 pounds. Get my drift? Use model numbers and as many different ways a surfer would search for this product. It will open up your organic search traffic more. If it is an article, make sure it is useful and as accurate as possible. These will build natural backlinks over time.

3. Link out to quality sites related or semi related to yours. If you are linking out with affiliate links, do so within reason. Is 20 links necessary? Are you an affiliate link farm? Link trades should be done within reason. If all 6 links out are trades, this is obvious. If one of 6 is a trade, that is reasonable.

4. You need links. Duh!!!!! The stronger the competition, the more quality ones you will need. If you are trying to rank for "purple underwater basket weaving wetsuits", it should not take many. Too many, too fast can be hurtful as well. Look natural and keep to a timely process of backlink building. Remember that backlinks come in all shapes and sizes. Mix them ALL in, not just one source like link directories. Make your backlink profile diverse, timely and natural looking.

5. Common sense! I can not say this enough. Do not fall for those "trick Google" methods. Just like Las Vegas, you might get lucky for a little while, but sooner or later the house will get you. It is not worth it.

The 5 things above are things you should obsess over, once you can get a site to rank, then you can worry about bettering your conversions. Captured, targeted traffic can ALWAYS be converted in some way, shape or form. Obsess over ranking, track your ranking every week. Once you learn how to rank, the rest is easy.

Another Solid Reason For Making Use Of Twitter

Like it or not, Twitter is here to stay. Full of spam you say? Absolutely, but so is Google, Yahoo and Bing. Here is a break down of searches done on Twitter compared to other search engines. Now if indeed these numbers are true or close to being true, then as you can see it passes Bing and Yahoo combined. Pretty astounding. I must admit I have used Twitter search a few times myself and found exactly what I was looking for. As I have mentioned in other post, it is very easy to feed your RSS feed into Twitter. It takes only a few seconds to set up and your done. Also using Twitter to network inside niches is priceless. It is a very under done resource. I do not mean blatant spamming either. Those that continue to discount Twitter and how it can be used effectively are missing the boat, but those same people will also tell you it is nothing but spam and just haven't seen it's effectiveness in action. I am glad to say, I have. Hopefully you do as well.

Pro Niche Store Platform Coming Soon

I was approached over a month ago by Randy Yates, who's wife Brandi you might have seen on the BANS forum from time to time. Randy was coming down the home stretch on a PHP based platform called Pro Niche Store. Randy asked me to beta test it and help work out what bugs I could find on it.

Let me say first and foremost that Pro Niche Store is for those new to affiliate marketing or those that were comfortable with BANS, but feel abandoned. It is not a product to compete with Wordpress, but does fill the hole in the market left by Adam and Kelvin. It is very hard for me to promote BANS much more these days as there is no support other than us few regulars on the forum. There will come a time when BANS will not work and it already needs several tweeks now out of the box just to run right. It is what it is and I am sure Adam and Kelvin would agree with that statement as well.

What Randy is putting together is a platform that uses both EPN and Amazon as base product lines. You can easily add pages and pages of content and articles as well as products. Here is where it gets more exciting. He his slowly building addons you can buy separately to show, Commission Junction, Link Share, Google Affiliate Network and Share-A-Sale products as well. I have seen the CJ one and it is very close to being ready. These plugins are easy to add and even easier to add listings to pages. Putting your own template together is easy as well. I easily converted a few of my favorite Wordpress templates to work with his platform. He has a guide for that as well.

The platform is not for sale yet, but will be released any day now. If you are looking to switch from BANS and are not ready for Wordpress, you need to check out this platform. Randy is easy going, open to suggestions and works tirelessly to support is baby project.

Here is my suggestion. Register on his forum for free. Ask him the hard questions. Ask him how hard it would be to transfer over existing BANS sites. Ask him about his level of support. Ask him anything. See what type of person and knowledge he has. If you are new to making money online or loved BANS, give Randy a chance. If you register, tell him that Soggy Dave sent you. You will not be disappointed in dealing with Randy. He has become a very good friend of mine online and knows his stuff.

I will post more once the product is available, but wanted to give my readers the first sneak peak of this new, soon to be released product. Do yourself a favor and meet Randy today.

Let Me Eat Cake For The 42nd Time

So I turn 42 today and had a great day. Back home the weather is fantastic. We do not get a long Spring as it goes from 76 to 96 it seems in just a few weeks. I did all the old birthday traditions today. Out to lunch with my wife, birthday cake, ice cream and worked in the yard for about 4 hours? What? You don't work in your yard on your birthday? I love it. If it is not raining on my birthday, you can find me on my tractor. Very relaxing and my wife quit fighting it years ago. I took care of a few site emergencies that needed attention and will get back to my regular routine starting on Saturday. I am very blessed and live a life I am very thankful for and do not take for granted. I now start my trip towards my 43rd opportunity to eat cake. Happy Birthday to me indeed!!!

Just Flew In From Vegas - Boy Are My Arms Tired

Oh boy, I am tired. We spent most of the day in the air, but are now back home safe and sound. We had a most excellent trip and got to look at some property as well while gone. As soon as the market turns here, we will be selling off our properties and move out west. We absolutely love it out there. It will take me a day or two to get back into my routines, and I can not wait. I have a ton of stuff to get to, but did enjoy the break.

If you have never gone to Vegas, you need to do so before you die. My wife said it was our 10th time and it was just as enjoyable as our 1st time. It is like Disneyland for adults. ANYTHING you want, can be found there and I do mean ANYTHING. I still do not understand why people bring children with them to Vegas, as it makes no sense. Vegas is not a family town, regardless of what anyone tells you. They call it Sin City for a reason. You really do not need a car either. Our last 4 or 5 times, we have gone and not even rented a car. The hotel shuttle systtem combined with the public transpotation is all you need if you are concentrating on enjoying either old or new Vegas,. Getting down town is a breeze. Bring comfortable shoes though as you will get some walking in.

OK, enough of my delirious rambling, I am off to wash clothes and get ready to turn 42 in a few hours. If you ever need info on what to do in Vegas or how to get around, just shoot me an email sometime.

Apple Store In Caesars Palace

Man, oh man, did I get a treat yesterday as my wife shopped in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops. I found the Apple store in Caesars and got to play with the new iPad and of course the iPhone as well. Now I know all about these two products, but never really had an opportunity to sit and play with them. I did for about 45 minutes on Tuesday and it was a treat. The iPad is quite excellent. I was impressed. As far as the iPhone goes, we don't use or have a need for cell phones that much as we both work from home, but I will be getting one when we get back from Vegas. It is truly a must have. We are leaving out from the room now to go down to the strip for the day. The weather continues to be great and the gambling is improving as I only lost 300 on Tuesday. lol. Hopefully I get some back tonight.

Supporting The Vegas Economy

Checking in to just hello as we head out to downtown Vegas this morning. We are doing our part by supporting the local economy here for sure. This is not our first time doing so, lol. We are going to see the Pawn Shop today, no not to pawn the rock on my wife's finger, but the one where they have the TV show Pawn Stars. Star struck? NO! It just looks like they have some really cool stuff there. We also plan to do the mock sky diving today as well. I can't wait, but will hold off eating lunch until we do it. That is all for now. Weather is great here and the crowds are not as thick as usual which makes it easier to get around than usual.

Viva Las Vegas

We have arrived and have been eating and gambling all day. I hope to post some video and or pictures on Monday. It never gets old flying over the Grande Canyon on a clear day. I believe this is our 10th trip to Vegas and the flights were all awesome and on time with no problems. We are back visiting our money here and hope to bring some back home with us this time. It has been here long enough. Life is good. Keep your heads up. Back to the tables I go.

How Wide Is Your Long Tail Cast Net?

After reading more on numbers included in the Long Live The Long Tail post I did, it prompted some research last night on a few of my sites that do not have high long tail organic searches. Now these sites earn money, rank well and get organic traffic, but they could be getting much more. These sites need a larger long tail net cast around them as they are already seeded very well.

After I get back from Vegas, I have as a priority to research and drill down further on these sites and have a goal to add at the minimum, 10 more pages each to cast a larger long tail net around the sites. These will include more specific brand names, model numbers and LSI related terms that will be woven nicely into content and product listings. It will indeed take some time, but I feel the effort will quadruple the traffic and earnings on most of the sites.

Have a close look at your own sites? How many long tail searches are you getting? Are you thin overall on the amount of words on the site? Could you weave in 5 or even 10 more articles or product pages to better attack other keywords that are closely related? It is amazing how much money we all leave on the table along with how much longer the tail searches are by the surfer. Do not get so caught up in keyword density that you ignore longer phrases that can be woven into an existing site. These long tail searches are usually surfers that take action, which means more money in your pocket.

Facebook Fun Friday

Here it is. getaway Friday for me. I did not get a ton done today, so I thought being how it was Friday, I would post something to entertain you today. If you use Facebook, you will get a hell of a kick out of the latest South Park Facebook Episode. You can watch the full episode by clicking that link. I never laughed so hard before. It is right on the money. I embeded a teaser clip below. Also we leave for Vegas early Sunday and do not worry, we have a house sitter coming to stay with my little buddy Toby for the week. He will not be left alone or at a kennel, he deserves better. I will try to post some pics and video throughout the trip in the late evenings. If you want to meet up in Vegas, hurry and shoot me a message on site here or on Twitter.

Long Live The Long Tail

Sorry for the late post today, but I am way behind in getting things done before out trip to Vegas. It is amazing how many little things you have to get ready. I finally sat back down and had a chance to read some things and came across a great post by Chris Sherman on Search Engine Land entitled, What The Long Tail Of Search Actually Looks Like. Chris does a great job showing you the break down of percentage of US clicks by number of keywords based on the Experian Hitwise numbers. It is good to see 5 word searches delivering a sold 8.5 % of searches made. That combined with 4 word searches equals nearly 23% of the searches. This is great news for us that attack the long tail with relevant model numbers, brands and etc.

Understanding Spun Article Marketing

I wanted to dig a little deeper today into Spun Article Marketing. Spinning articles is nothing new, but the ability to quality spin has improved over time, especially with such fantastic tools such as the Best Spinner. Article marketing is not new either, but it too has progressed over the years thanks to the Bum Marketing method and the 30 Day Challenge program. Putting both article spinning and article marketing together, gives you the best of both worlds.

Now when I talk about spun articles, I mean over 70% or so uniqueness. Just because the Best Spinner is a great tool, still means you have to use it properly. This also includes spinning the titles as well. If you use a tool like Micro Niche Finder or Market Samurai, you can uncover low hanging fruit in the SERPS that you can attract with carefully researched article titles. Spinning this into different versions with just one spun article is like shooting 15 birds with one bullet.

I submit spun versions to my favorite article directories along with a spun syntax to both Free Traffic System and Article Ranks. Not only do those articles get posted there, they also tend to get syndicated by bloggers throughout the web as well. This can turn one carefully spun article into hundreds of backlinks over time. Sure 100 is high number, but I have personally had an article syndicate that much when it happened to find a hole in the niche. 25-50 is more reasonable and I never met a backlink I didn't like.

Spun Article Marketing does take consistent work like any other method though. Take your time and spin them thoroughly. This includes bio blurbs as well as carefully researched titles. Take your time and try to pound out 2 a week in your niche. It works very, very well as it is the major root of my own backlinking building process that I build my own empire on.

Blogger Now Has Pages

I am not sure how I missed this, but just noticed this morning that Blogger blogs now have the ability to add pages in addition to post. You can add up to 10 stand-alone pages such as an "About Me" page or even "Article" pages. Blogger only adds a "p" to the URL along with the page name instead of the year and month like the post URL's. You can also now add a "Add Page List" gadget to link pages on your blog as well.

While this is not a HUGE deal, it does make it easier for those that are technically challenged the ability to build more sites that are content based versus blog based. It is just a little addon per say. If you are still overwhelmed by Wordpress or simply can not afford hosting, Blogger is still an excellent way to get starting in affiliate marketing for free, while learning the business. If you do not think you can make a full time income off of Blogger, you are fooling yourself. I have always been intrigued by the Blogger platform and thus never moved this blog off it for that very reason. You would be very surprised at what kind of money this very blog makes. I also have 3 additional lucrative niche sites I have also built on the Blogger platform as well. Blogger sites also make great feeder sites as well. You can post a few articles on them and funnel traffic to a main site should you desire. Just because it is free, does not mean it can not be used in your favor.

If you want to learn more about the new Blogger page feature, go here.

Are You Doing The Work Consistently & Keeping A Journal?

Many of you know the work involved in ranking your sites higher for target keyword phrases in Google. If you are in that crowd, you know it takes some level of consistency to get the backlinks flowing in. Some keywords need more backlinks than others, depending on competition and quality of the competitors backlinks.

Those of you that think you know the work involved, choose to get gung ho on one day and sit and watch the results. Do not feel bad, I think we all go through that stage. If you have 1 or 100 sites, you need to set you plan in action to consistently do the work involved and track your work and ranking results.

Do you keep some sort of work journal or log for your sites? Do you document your work and results? I bet you don't! I bet you just check Google to see if you rank higher today. Are you using Google Analytics or some other analytics program to monitor your traffic from various keywords? I bet not.

You need to be doing the work consistently in this business and must be able to track where you have come from, where you are going and the stops you have made along the way. Once you do that, you can take your success sites and easily replicate a few patterns of what you know has worked in the past.

Working consistently is not one day of a mad rush of article spinning and article directory submissions. Consistent work is what it says it is. Consistent. Start treating your business like a business and you will get paid better. Also if you ever contact me regarding ranking help, be prepared for me to ask you for some sort of site journal. It is much easier to help you guys if I can see EXACTLY what you have been doing. I am not going to take the time to research what you have done and what you are targeting. You will be surprised at how well working consistent and keeping a site journal or log will help you. It will also help others help you.

Happy Easter & Video Easter Prayer

I wanted to take time out today and wish everyone a blessed and happy Easter. Please do not lose sight of the meaning of Easter on this day. This day celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins.

Here is a great Easter prayer that I also converted to video using the software I told you about yesterday.

Heavenly Father and God of mercy,
I believe that Jesus is alive and has
become the Lord of life.

From the waters of Baptism you have
raised me with him and renewed your
gift of life within me.

Increase in my mind and heart
the risen life I share with Christ
and help me to grow in your
wisdom and grace.

Lord Jesus, you appeared to your
apostles after the resurrection and filled
their hearts with joy when you said to them
"Peace be with you".

May the peace of your presence
abide with me and make each day you
give me the most beautiful day of my life.

Lord Jesus, you triumphed over death and
destroyed the power of death in me,
may I live only for you.

Risen Lord, you brought confusion
on the guards at your tomb but joy
to your disciples, grant me the fullness
of joy as I serve you in spirit and truth.

You promised to be with your disciples,
Lord, to the end of the world, stay with
me today and remain with me always.

King of glory, center of my life,
grant that when you come again, I may
be one with you in glory.

Lord, remember me as in my own way I
minister to your people, may my life
be holy and an example to your people.

Lord Jesus, purify my heart with your truth
and guide me in the way of holiness,
so that I may always do what is
pleasing in your sight.

Amen.

Big Mike Incansoft Easter Sale

Michalis "BIG Mike" Kotzakolios With His Trusty Sidekicks Diego Hernando and John Rogers are having an Easter software sale. Every single product in their catalog is at least 50% off using Coupon Code: BUNNY (all upper case). This makes each program of his $12.95. He only has these sales 3 times a year or so, so I suggest you get them now. The link I gave is not an affiliate link. I earn nothing for sending you there. Yesterday I purchased the titles below:

GFX Video Writer
VideoBot
PADBot
BlogBot

Before that I bought the ArticleBot. I have played with GFX Video Writer thus far and it makes turning articles into videos very easy. I also look forward to using the PADBot. I will dedicate more time to the PADBot in a future post, but get it as I will show how you can use it along with another free application to get backlinks to your niche sites.

Make sure you add these to your cart one by one and use BUNNY on each one before you checkout. Make sure each says $12.95. This is a great price on these tools and I do not know how long the sale will last.

Another Clean Wordpress Theme - Gridline Lite

Some of you seem to like these free, clean Wordpress themes I run across and today's offering is a great find as well. The theme is called Gridline Lite and I really like it. I am currently rebuilding an old BANS site with it as well. Gridline Lite is a free minimalist theme for Wordpress 2.8 and up with full sidebar and bottombar widget support that utilizes a CSS framework to help streamline development and customization. You can easily add a logo image at the top in place of the blog title and this theme can easily be turned into a different color with a few minor color code changes in the CSS file. If you are real adventurous, you can eliminate the bottom 3 widgets above the footer for a truer ecommerce site feel. That is what I did with my rebuild as I had no use for those widgets at the bottiom. This is a great theme, hopeful;ly you find it useful. Happy Friday, everyone.

EDITED TO ADD: Yes, I forgot to add you need to sign up for free to get this template. It is painless I assure you. Thanks to Earl for catching that.

Google Uses What They Want As An Index Description

This is by no means earth shattering news, but several of you still may not know it. Your meta description tag is not always used by Google in your index listing. Duh?! Perhaps you have seen this yourself. As Matt Cutts tells in the video below, Google reserves the right to list snippets of your on site text if it feels it is more relevant to the search returned.

The best way to TRY to get Google to use your meta description, is to write better description tags. Make sure they are the correct character length and are an accurate description of what is on site. Still try to use it as a "selling tag" as well to get the surfer to click your link instead of another in the SERPs. Regardless, Google will use what it wants to use and in due time, the description meta tag could go the way of the keyword tag. Just make sure your on page content is good and on target and your title tag reflects what is on page and what you are targeting. Write your description meta tags to the best of your ability and all will be fine.
